Backstory
As the Ruler of the conscious mind, Alyssa is an expert when it omes to mental processes, behaviors and cognitive abilities. She, more than anyone, understands that knowledge is power and a mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Her expansive understanding of how the human mind works and how easy they are to influence assisted her in understanding human behaviors and to develop her ability to control their actions and manipulate their decisions based on logical inputs and basic reasoning skills.
She does not use her abilities unless she absolutely must to protect her cause as she is still a firm believer in free will. She also knows herself enough to know that once that line is crossed… She may not be able to bring herself back.
One thing she holds herself responsible for is the protection of a mind from certain external influences from those less good-natured that herself. Including the minds of the other rulers. This has been a difficult task as of late, much more difficult than she had ever anticipated it being. She has come to realize that a mind can only be protected from external influences if it wants to be, and the rulers beliefs that the prophecy will not come to pass has left them susceptible to Cassandra’s abilities to reshape the mind based on fears and nightmares – creating thoughts.
Alyssa, being a master of communication and linguistics has dissected every word of the prophecy hundreds of times and has found nothing that could lead her to believe that the approaching danger is not headed right for them, but her closest allies straying further and further from the task at hand. She fears that they will fail when the danger arrives.
She spends most of her time keeping her mind sharp or trying to remove the fog from the very brain-washed rulers, fearing that her powers aren’t enough to combat the dark influence of her counterpart, and full-blooded sister, Cassandra, when they would all rather pretend that nothing is happening. She’s been exhausting her own power supply to strengthen her subjects because she knows she can’t do it alone. Truth is, she may not be able to do it at all.
